Michal Cohen served as Director General of the Education Ministry for four years, and previously filled different managerial roles in the public service, most recently as the Ministry's Senior Deputy Director and Director of the Pedagogic Administration. During the course of her professional career, she has led significant, large-scale pedagogic and structural reforms and innovative initiatives. Michal holds an MA degree in education from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and a diploma in Organizational Consultation for Education Systems from Tel Aviv University, as well as MA in Law from Bar Ilan University. She serves as General Director of Rashi from September 2017.
Michal Kelman Avital
Michal heads Rashi's Partnerships Department, developing and overseeing strategic partnerships as well as managing dozens of philanthropic partners who invest along with Rashi in a host of initiatives to drive social mobility from cradle to career. In her role, Michal cultivates resources and partnerships with organizations, Jewish federations and foundations in Israel and abroad. Prior to joining the Rashi Foundation, Michal led the Nadav Foundation as CEO, initiating and managing a variety of philanthropic projects. She holds a BA degree in social work from Bar Ilan University and a master’s degree in public administration from Clark University.
Research & Development
Omri joined the Rashi Foundation after serving as the director of content and training at Maoz, where he developed the content and the educational framework of the organization's large-scale fellows programs in the fields of heath, education, local authorities and tri-sector leadership. Previously, as VP of the Reut Institute, Omri led multiple-team taskforces focused on issues such as: inclusive growth, competitiveness, regional development, and labor market reform. He also has experience in the field of informal education and was Head of Education and Instruction of the Israeli Scouts' Tel-Aviv district. Omri holds a BA in Economics and History and an MA in History (with honors) from Tel-Aviv University.
Einav heads the Marketing Communications Department of the Rashi Foundation, where she is responsible for building the marketing strategy for specific projects and programs, as well as for general issues connected with Rashi's core activities and its overall mission of driving social mobility in Israel. Einav has extensive experience in marketing communications and PR and in providing marketing consulting to leading Israeli companies and social organizations. She completed a BA degree in Communication and Business Administration at the Hebrew University, and an MBA with specialization in marketing at Tel Aviv University.
Yael Bala Avni
Yael began her career in social services working with special-needs and at-risk populations in different settings, including a hostel for autistic people, a community home for the mentally retarded and a rape crisis center, which she directed. Next, she led the joint initiative for treating sexually abused children on behalf of the partners - the Rashi Foundation, the Ministry of Social Services and the National Insurance Institute. When the project came under the Ministry's responsibility, Yael Joined Rashi's team as head of evaluation and measurement and later took on the role of VP of programs. She has a BA degree in International Relations and MA in Gender Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem..
Liron was born and raised in the southern town of Dimona. While studying for his BSc in Information Systems Engineering at Ben-Gurion University, he began working as a teaching assistant in Rashi's Tafnit program. After two years at the Bezeq International phone company, he returned to Tafnit to fill the position of statistics coordinator and from there transferred to Rashi's head office, where he is responsible for the entire network of information systems of the Foundation.
Dasi joined the Rashi Foundation in 2015 and worked as accountant in charge of capital projects and the affiliate associations until her appointment as Director of Finance in 2018. Since being certified in 2004, she worked in several CPA firms where she was engaged in auditing, preparing and editing financial statements for companies, subsidiaries, listed companies, contractors and non-profit organizations. Dasi holds a BA in Accounting and Information Systems, as well as a teaching diploma.
Joining the Rashi team in 2012, Eyal brought the rich experience he gained over 20 years of work in the IDF on construction and infrastructure projects. During this period he was directly responsible for implementation of large-scale capital projects and also filled senior managerial positions. Eyal has a BSc degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Tel Aviv University and an MBA from Bar-Ilan University.
Purchasing and Operation
Yaniv has a BA degree in Business Management and an MBA with specialization in business strategy, both from the Ono Academic College. He joined Rashi in 2005 after working for 7 years in the Ministry of Defense. As part of his job, Yaniv advises the Foundation's subsidiaries and managed all the purchasing at the head office, including large-scale equipping as part of capital projects to create various education and welfare facilities.
Tali is a graduate of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Faculty of Law, who worked as a lawyer in the private sector before joining Rashi in 2006. As part of the Foundation's legal team, she gained broad experience in providing legal advice to the different departments, drafting contracts with external bodies and so on. In 2019 Tali became the head of the legal department.
Rotem Azar Eliyahu
Rotem has many years of experience in developing and managing services for children at risk, specializing in early childhood. She served as manager of the early childhood center in Kiryat Gat and filled key positions in JDC-Ashalim and in the National Program for Children and Youth at Risk. In these roles, she was responsible for complex, multi-disciplinary projects in collaboration between government agencies, municipalities and philanthropic partners. As head of early childhood at the Rashi Foundation, Rotem leads the Community-based Infancy Initiative in partnership with the Ministry of Social Services and JDC-Ashalim. Rotem has BA and MA degrees in social work from Ben Gurion University..

Erez has been active in Israel for the 20 years as a social entrepreneur, working in collaboration with government agencies, cities, philanthropies, business companies and NGOs. He developed an entrepreneurship skills training model and was founder and CEO of the Rothschild Ambassadors young leadership program; a lecturer and consultant in social entrepreneurship, strategy and community development in Israel and abroad; and VP of the ISEF Foundation. In his role at the Rashi Foundation, Erez developed a city-based investment strategy and the City at the Center initiative, which aims to build cities' capacity to promote social mobility. Erez holds LLB and MBA degrees from IDC Herzliya.
